Together with the DIRRebreather an expedition was planned for the Vessel “Graf Zeppelin, Baltic Sea” from 03.06. – 06/06/2012.

The group was set up internationally, 4 divers from Spain, three divers from the Netherlands and the team from Germany.

Matthias and I traveled on Saturday to Gdynia and stayed there overnight. The next morning we drove to the Hel Peninsula, where the dive boat in the harbor was waiting.

Around noon the boat was then loaded, Simon was already there from Spain, Pim from Holland came 18:00 o’clock.

The boat was loaded quickly and we were going out of the harbor against 19:00 o’clock, direction of Graf Zeppelin.

On Monday morning we were on target, the shot line was already down when we were at breakfast.

On the first dive, the ship’s crew was not so recorded, so everything takes a long time.

The first dive was then but absolutely fantastic and the visibility under water at 70 m depth was great.

The second dive was much better then because the dive boat was logistically better organized now (Thank’s to Simon).

Since the boat had problems with the first anchor windlass on the wreck was possible. So went the Captain always in circle. Sometime during the night could then be anchored.

On Tuesday morning the sea was calm and we were excited about the recent dive. Unfortunately, could be the night the anchor line involved with the shot line, which then lasted for several hours before we dive again. As the shot line was now in a place we had the opportunity again to see another section.

About noon a storm and the waves made a further dive to the Graf Zeppelin no longer possible. We drove back to Hel in the harbor.

At noon there was the possibility of Hel from the “Franken” to dive. Unfortunately, the storm through the night turns the view at the “Franken” to bad.

Back in Hel, the equipment was stored in record time in the vehicles, we drove straight back the 1200 km to Frankfurt. I was at home against 03:35 o’clock.
